Identity CollageI thought this project was going to be very difficult, I figured it would be hard to find all the colors I would need and be able to cut the shapes out. As it turns out, cutting the shapes out wasn’t as difficult as I thought it would be. The tough part of the project was getting colors that actually matched each other. I figured the hardest part of this project would be getting the hair to look good, so I found a picture that none of the hair was showing.
I started by filling in my hood, which is what covered my hair. Then I worked on my neck and the small features on my face like my eyes and nostrils. Then I moved onto the skin and finished with my background. My background was a layer of white with a brown cross and two race cars. I decided to include these things in my background because they are important to me. |

Real Anatomy Of TechnologyFor this project, I was tasked to create an image where there is a component of human anatomy within a technological object.
Technology, the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes, has been around for thousands of years. The wheel has been around since the building of the pyramids in Egypt some 4,500 years ago. The wheel has been used to make transportation easier for thousands of years, eventually leading to the development of the first automobile in 1886. The car has been one of the most useful technological inventions for hundreds of years. Vehicles are powered by engines, humans are powered by the heart and the brain. In this project, I swapped the engine out for a brain. I started with the shell of the drawing, the vehicle. I modeled the car around a 1970s vehicle. Then I added the brain that is to power the car. I studied pictures of the human brain so that I could make it more realistic. I proceeded to color the car. When it came time to color the brain, I chose to go with a pink color. The stuff that makes up the brain is called grey matter, however the veins and arteries in the brain make a fresh brain a pinkish color. I decided to add a battery that was connected to the brain for good measure. I chose a car because of how important and useful they are, as well as my knowledge of them. I was tempted to use the heart as the engine, but I felt like the brain was more artistic and fun. Another reason I chose a car is because it is the machine that, in my opinion, is the most connected to the make-up of a human. Much like humans, cars have hundreds of working pieces; and with even one part of the car failing, the car won’t work. Value Of WordsThe task for this project was to make a picture using solely words. The small words on my paper make up a larger picture. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but in this case; a thousand words make up the picture.
The image I chose to create is a race car. I chose this because racing is something rooted very deeply in my family and I have always loved the sport of stock car racing. I modeled the car off of a Wissota Super Stock and and used the words to create the car. The words I used are the lyrics to a song. The song is titled Dreams by NF. I chose this song because I can relate to it and it has always been a dream of mine to be a race car driver. That dream came true, and my next dream is to race a Super Stock. Words are important to art, they help create the art and the art tells a story. In this case, there is a story that is making up a piece of art. Art For A CauseFor this project, I was told to create a piece of artwork that brings awareness to an issue that we have in our society. I chose defending democracy. This project was assigned shortly after the riot on the Capitol Building and the threats of riots on all of the Capitol Buildings in the United States. I wanted to bring awareness to this issue because the rioters on the Capitol were trying to stop democracy.
